Arbor Mundi: Reconstruction

Year: 2026
Medium: interactive object
Material: maple wood, transferred photographic images
Dimensions: 15 cubes, 6 × 6 × 6 cm each

Arbor Mundi Cubes reinterpret the photographic series Arbor Mundi (2021) through an interactive sculptural form. Fifteen wooden cubes carry fragmented photographic images that visitors can rearrange in an attempt to reconstruct the original compositions.

The work transforms the act of viewing into an act of reconstruction. Even when an image appears complete, its apparent coherence remains uncertain. Originally exploring a subtle perceptual shift within a photograph, the work now extends this instability into the process of assembling reality itself.

Within Smile!, the cubes become a reflection on adaptation and migration: while identity may gradually be reconstructed, the surrounding reality remains fragmented, unstable, and open to misrecognition.
