The reason for art
Understanding contemporary art is a difficult task not only for the average viewer, but also for those who are professionally involved in such art. Often, even the author of a work does not fully understand why they use certain images or media to form their ideas into a work of art. Working intuitively, using popular or painful themes, an artist can lose a very important element of their work—an understanding of the reason for their art. An artist's thoughts and their work can be as deep and unique as they want, but if they ignore the question “Why?”, any art loses its meaning.
The second DroArt contemporary art symposium will pose this question to participants and attempt to understand the reasons that compel artists to live for art. It will attempt to determine what compels authors to create their works as they are. It will also attempt to find the root causes of such a phenomenon as contemporary art.
