New Lives Same People
17-18.05.2023
Vancouver, Canada
Russia's renewed invasion of Ukraine has divided most people's lives into a "before" and an "after".
The exhibition “New Lives, Same People” showcases 10 stories of Ukrainians whose lives dramatically changed after the Russian military attacks. This exhibition highlights the “before” period of each person, where we see family, work, a daily routine, dreams, and plans, and the “after” period, where all that was considered to be “normal” drastically changes.
This exhibition is being showcased in Vancouver by UCAG, following its debut in Halle, Germany, in partnership with Leuchtturm Helfer e.V. Funded by United for Ukraine Local Love Fund by UWBC.
Dates:
May 17 - Doors open for leisurely viewings at 12:00PM. Opening Night at 6:30PM.
May 18 - Doors open for leisurely viewings at 12:00PM. Presentation of Art Project "I WAR YOU" at 6:30PM.
At the event, foreigners and Ukrainians in Canada were told about the experience of living in war, the project "I WAR YOU" and depicted waiting as a synonym for love with the help of the art performance "Waiting Room" performed by Roksolana Uhryniuk.
The waiting room today is not only at the airport but also in every Ukrainian home. Only, instead of a tabla with flight numbers, there is news on the smartphone screen, and instead of a suitcase for travel, there is an “alarming suitcase”.
You can also become a participant in our performance at the exhibition on May 17-18, presented by Ukrainian artist Roksolana Ughryniuk. As part of the presentation of the project "I WAR YOU".
Entrance free.
