IV All-Ukrainian Competition in Contemporary Visual Arts for Young Artists named after Nathan Altman

In December 2017, the IV All-Ukrainian Competition in Contemporary Visual Arts named after Nathan Altman was held in Vinnytsia.

The project was organized by the Department of Culture of the Vinnytsia City Council, the NGO “Laboratory of Contemporary Art,” the Association of Art Galleries of Ukraine, the Cultural Center “Gallery XXI,” the NGO “Cultural Strategy XXI,” and the NGO “League for the Development of Art.”

The competition is dedicated to the world-renowned artist Nathan Isaakovich Altman, who was born in Vinnytsia on December 10 (22), 1889, and achieved success on his own, thanks to his talent and perseverance.

The Nathan Altman Competition is being held for the third time and showcases the best young artists in Ukraine working in the field of contemporary visual art. Participants must be under 35 years of age. This year, the shortlist features artists from Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Kherson, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Ternopil. During the competition, the organizers received more than sixty project applications from young authors and art groups. The competition's expert council, consisting of art historians and gallery owners representing five Ukrainian cities, selected thirteen finalist projects, which will be presented at an exhibition at the Gallery XXI Cultural Center on December 22, 2017, at 5:00 p.m.

The winners of the competition, who will take first, second, and third place, will be selected from among the thirteen creative projects. The grand prize winner will also receive a special award from the Association of Art Galleries of Ukraine: the right to hold a solo exhibition at the Sovart Gallery in Kyiv during 2018.
